My passion for art has been lifelong, but my concentration on my work intensified later in life. I devoted as much time as possible to art classes and workshops, and of course I painted often. I spent ten years capturing the essence of the children I painted and the effects of lighting on my subjects. I have been inspired to paint by the works of Sargent, Sorrolla, Potthast, and Cassatt. In recent years, I have focused on contemporary art: figurative works and abstracts. Strong color and heavy texture, which I achieve using a palette knife, are both key characteristics of my painting style.
