This course is intended for candidates that are interested in learning the skills of drawing human faces and cartooning. This course will provide an Introduction to traditional and contemporary principles of drawing. Students will gain a greater working knowledge of line, contour, shading, texture, perspective, proportion, and composition.

This course is designed to teach ceramic figure sculpting techniques including the fundamentals of modeling carving, coil, pinch, and slab building, as well as glazing. As a beginner, you will be making variations on the basic cylinder, such as mugs, vases, and bowls.

This class will focus on getting you to become more familiar with your camera, as well as editing, to make your photos more explosive. We will spend time learning the functions of your camera (DSLR required — no point and shoots, please), as well as the basic principles of ISO, exposure, and aperture. My goal will be to get you comfortable enough with your camera to stop shooting on Program.

We will have weekly photo assignments, with instruction and critique the following week. Don’t wait until it’s too late to learn how to capture your special moments or to set the artist in you free.

“Over the past 10 years, teaching children has been one of the most enjoyable opportunities I’ve had.  As it turns out, I have gotten quite good at it. During that time I have taught children from ages 4 years old to seniors in their late 60’s. My students have already gone on to accomplish great things, as most recently one of my students auditioned for 7th-grade band. He won 1st chair honors out of 50+ students. At the time, he was reading music at a high school level. Some of my younger students have become more serious about music, while others enjoy learning an instrument along with the other activities and sports they are involved in. Because music has something for everyone, the benefits can be discovered by everyone who studies. Whether you spend years or months taking lessons, there is no debate as to the positive effects of music on young people, and for that matter, all people.” -Mr. Ben

Mr. Ben also offers group lessons using Boomwhackers & Tubulums. Please contact us for more information.
