Drawing Class (Instructor: Alma Castro)

This course is intended for candidates that are interested in learning the skills of drawing human faces and cartooning. This is a 16 session course that provides and Introduction to traditional and contemporary principles of drawing. Students will gain a greater working knowledge of line, contour, shading, texture, perspective, proportion and composition.

Beginners will learn basic wheel skills: centering, opening, pulling, shaping, trimming and finishing, as well as glazing. As a beginner, you will be making variations on the basic cylinder, such as mugs, vases, and bowls. We suggest taking at least 4 sessions before moving up to an intermediate/ advanced wheel throwing class. Your instructor will help you assess your skill level. Before registering for an intermediate class, you need to master the basic throwing skills.

This class will focus on getting you to become more familiar with your camera, as well as editing, to make your photos more explosive. We will spend time learning the functions of your camera (DSLR required — no point and shoots, please), as well as the basic principles of ISO, exposure and aperture. My goal will be to get you comfortable enough with your camera to stop shooting on Program.

We will have weekly photo assignments, with instruction and critique the following week. Don’t wait until it’s too late to learn how to capture your special moments or to set the artist in you free.

(ages 3 – adult)
This approach to learn the violin begins with the “mother-tongue” idea: listen, watch, and do. Children’s abilities are cultivated by listening to beautiful music. Through constant repetition of pieces, old skills are strengthened and new ones gained. There will be individual lessons as well as class lessons designed specifically to fulfill each pupil’s need.

Traditional instruction is available for junior high, high school and adult students. Enrollment is for the school semester (16 weeks). Summer lessons are also offered.
